“挡风抑尘墙”的防尘机理是通过降低来流风的风速，最大限度地损失来流风的动能，减少风的湍流度而达到减少起尘的目的。目前国内有相关专利技术。挡风抑尘板目前材质也多样化，有SMC,FRP复合材料，不锈钢，钛合金材质等。

挡风抑尘墙应用范围相当广泛，在农业上防风网用于提供对农作物的微气候；在沙化比较严重的地区，用于减少沙石堆积；在环境保护中，防风网能减少散料物体装卸和堆放过程中的逸散。
